Prague City Tourism in cooperation with the Prague Transport Company started operating tram line no. 42, featuring vintage tram cars, with the aim of improving convenience and the quality of experience for domestic and foreign visitors and contributing to sustainable tourism in the capital. The line is circular and connects the city’s most important sights. We also offer themed vintage tram rides. Their aim is to commemorate historical events under the banner of the Pragensia viva guide service. The project was launched with a pilot ride on the anniversary of Operation Anthropoid on 27 May 2023 and immediately gained immense popularity. During the ride in a period car, participants were transported to 1942 and learned about important aspects of Czech history with the help of entertaining guides. Other themed rides include the events of 21 August 1968 and the invasion of the Warsaw Pact troops, or a ride tracing the State Security observation posts. The tourist tram is a more environmentally friendly alternative to other services of a similar type, while reducing the burden placed on ordinary public transport commonly used by Prague residents.
